Synopsis: A Rep-PCR DNA fingerprinting method for identifying the L. crispatus CTV-05 strain was developed that distinguished CTV-05 from all other lactobacilli tested, including 168 human vaginal and rectal Lactobacillus strains and 24 ATCC Lactobacillus strains. Rep-PCR identified CTV-05 from other vaginal lactobacilli in a pilot study prior to and after capsule use.
